2009-2010 FULL BAND REHEARSALS: The 2009-2010 edition of the BUSY BEE BAND & HONEYBEES of East Fairmont High School will begin rehearsing on Monday, July 13, 2009 from 6:30 until 8:30 pm. We will meet again on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 and each consecutive Monday and Wednesday evening through July 29, 2009. These rehearsals will include the incoming Freshman class as well as all upperclassmen and will be the starting point of this year’s band. FRESHMAN MARCHING CLINIC: Starting Monday, July 20, Wed. July 22, Mon. July 27 and Wed. July 19, we will ask the Freshman to arrive at the high school at 5:45 PM for forty-five minutes of marching drill and then join the upperclassmen at 6:30 for the regular evening practice. In years past, Freshmen have come in from 9:00-11:00 four mornings in a row to learn their fundamentals - now we will incorporate the marching clinic in with the evening practices rather than having your parents bring you twice-a-day as in past years. UNIFORM FITTINGS FOR ALL STUDENTS: will run the week of July 27 - July 30, 2009 during the afternoons. Students will be notified ONE week prior to fittings as to which day and time period in the afternoon (1:00 pm - 3:30 pm) they will need to come in for their uniform. If you are going to be out of town that week, I will need to know so that I can get an accurate height and weight measurement in order to save you a uniform. Our uniform distribution system is computerized so as to allow the quickest & most accurate fittings for your son or daughter. When alterations are needed, our seamstress - Ms. Debbie Boggs will be present to measure sleeve and pant length so that she can alter that particular uniform to the exact size of your son or daughter. Also during this fitting, all freshmen will be fitted for their band shoes and spats as well as their Rugby Shirt that are part of the uniform. Please make every effort to be at your uniform fitting time if at all possible. SECTION REHEARSALS: will be for a two week period with Week #1 starting on Monday, July 20, 2009 through Thursday, July 23, 2009. Week #2 will run from July 27, 2009 through July 30, 2009 (Monday - Thursday). Listed beloew are the instrumentation schedules for each of the days:
SPECIAL PARENT–NIGHT MEETING: TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2009, 7:00 - 8:00 PM. - E.F.H.S. Auditorium. Each year, we have a special parent night meeting in which BOTH parents and students of the Busy Bee Band & Honeybees are required to attend as an organizational meeting. At this meeting, information concerning the Band program will be presented along with a detailed handout containing information prevalent to our program. Also included in the handout will be an information letter and form concerning Band Camp. Parents may feel free to ask questions concerning the band program, Band Camp and the Busy Bee Band Boosters. Remember, this is a required meeting for all students and parents. PRE-CAMP WORKSHOP: AUGUST 3 - 6, 2009. This four-day, intense workshop is also held at E.F.H.S in the evenings from 5:30 - 9:30 pm. This is where we begin our fall field show drill designs, charting of individuals in squads, and intense group playing focusing towards the following week’s Band Camp. Friday, August 7, 2009 is a free day for preparation for Band Camp which follows on Saturday. BUSY BEE BAND CAMP - AUGUST 8 - 14, 2009 - (Sat - Fri.): The annual Busy Bee Band Camp will be held at beautiful Camp Caesar 4-H Camp located between Webster Springs and Cowen, WV. This camp is REQUIRED for the fall performance band. Additional information will be announced at the Parent Meeting on Thursday, July 28, 2009.
