On April 2, 2009, the Busy Bee Band & Honeybees opened Follies 2009 at the East Fairmont High School Auditorium. Over 4-nights, the group performed for over 3,000 people. Follies 2009 marked the 37th Annual Production of spring tradition . The show started with the band playing the opening fanfare from "That's Entertainment" followed by "Curtain Up." The Honeybees were then featured during "Far From Over."
The band then performed a David Shaffer piece entitle "Windsongs" followed by highlights from the movie soundtrack Mamma Mia, which included ABBA's hits "Mamma Mia," "SOS," "The Winner Takes It All" and "Dancing Queen." The Honeybees were then again featured in a Will Rogers Follies number entitled "Our Favorite Son." From the Andrew Lloyd-Webber production Aspects of Love, the group performed "Love Changes Everything" followed by the Theme from Jag which included a solo by the Busy Bee Band Percussion Section and Piccolos. The band then played hits from Neil Diamond which included "America," "Sweet Caroline," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," "Cherry, Cherry" and "I'm a Believer." To close the first half, the group celebrated the 200th Birthday of Abraham Lincoln and remembered the Civil War with music from the movie Gettysburg.
Act Two begins with Zac, the casting director, attempting to pick out dancers for a Broadway show as the group presents music from the production A Chorus Line. The skit ends with the traditional Honeybee kickline to "One." The band next performed the James Swearingen piece entitled "In All Its Glory," followed by a Salute to Disney World. The Disney World piece included slides presenting the countries of Epcot and detailing the band's 11th trip to Disney World this coming May. Legends of Rock was next as the band played Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," Heart's "Barracuda" and Black Sabbath's "Paranoid." The Busy Bee Band Rock Guitarists then took the stage for "Rock and Roll All Nite" as performed by Kiss. Field Show and Parade Highlight were next as the group presented "Strike Up the Band" and "The Heat Is On."
The seniors of the Busy Bee Band & Honeybees were acknowledged during the playing of "Broadway Razzle Dazzle." Seniors of the Busy Bee Band & Honeybees are Dori Baker, Hannah Barnett, David Carpenter, Sidney Chesley, Ashley Dean, Amanda Delligatti, Emily DeWitt, Jake Eakin, Marriah Ellington, Amber Golden, Dane Hamilton, Abby Harden, Kishia Hartley, Shayla Haun, Ivy Jaskulski, Galen Kabulski, Chelsea Kittle, Caitlin Libby, Karen Macauley, Logan Markley, Garrett Michael, Jacob Miller, Derrick Pogue, Kayla Pomp, Chris Rogers, Brittany Romano, Amanda Rush, Dustin Starsick, Samantha Swisher, Zach Taylor and Nick Toothman. Follies 2009 then closed with "That's Entertainment " and the traditional presentation of the "Busy Bee Band Bouquet" by Head Honeybee Brittany Romano. |
