ALL MARION COUNTY BAND SHOWCASE On Thursday, May 6, 2004, the bands of East Fairmont, Fairmont Senior and North Marion gathered at the East Fairmont High School gymnasium for the All Marion County Band Showcase. The program was designed by Marion County Schools to extend appreciation to the Board of Education, parents and school patrons for their support of the band programs. The program was also presented in observance of "Music in Our Schools" month. Marion County Superintendent, Dr. James Phares, addressed the audience before the show, congratulating each group on their recent accomplishments. Each program was to perform their State Band Adjudication pieces along with a number of their choosing. North Marion, under the direction of Rebecca Moran, performed "Main Street Celebration" by Steven Reineke, "Hill Country Holiday" by Robert Sheldon, and "A Folk Legend Overture" by Jim Andy Caudill. Next, Fairmont Senior, under the direction of Shawn Dunn, performed a Karl King march number titled "Allied Honor", "All Glory Told" by James Swearingen, "Fanfare and Intermezzo" by Robert Sheldon. East Fairmont performed their two adjudication pieces, "Credence" by Claude T. Smith and "Juxtaposition" by Warren Baker, and concluded their performance with "Amber Waves of Grain" by James Curnow. Following the performance by each group, Dr. Harry Faulk was introduced as the conductor for a combined band performance of "Simple Gifts" arranged by James D. Ployhar. Dr. Faulk currently serves as the Associate Provost at Fairmont State University.
