Updated: May 14, 2019

How to follow a Superior rating at the State Band Adjudication? A trip to the Big Apple, of course.

Members of the Busy Bee Band & Honeybees perform aboard the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid, which is the centerpiece of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

The Busy Bee Band & Honeybees had a busy week, which started on Thursday, April 19th, when the Busy Bee Band obtained a Superior rating at the Region 10 Band Festival at Bridgeport High School. A Superior rating is the highest rating passed out by the three judges. The Busy Bee Band performed "In All Its Glory" by James Swearingen and "Windsongs" by David Shaffer

"Following a 4-night run of Follies and planning for a trip to New York City, it's remarkable to see an ensemble travel to the State Band Festival and receive 3-Superior ratings!"

On Friday, April 20th, the group left for New York City. On Friday, the band took a tour cruise which offered views of midtown and lower Manhattan. On Friday, the group toured and performed aboard the USS Intrepid Sea & Air Museum, followed by lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner. Next was a trip to the Observation Deck of Rockefeller Center, which offered unobstructed views of the New York City skyline. Saturday night, the band attended the Broadway hit Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theatre. On Sunday, the group went to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum before traveling back to Fairmont on Sunday evening.
