BUSY BEE BAND & HONEYBEES
The Busy Bee Band & Honeybees completed their 4-show run of the Annual Spring Tradition Follies, bringing nearly 3000 patrons to EFHS' Broadway facility
The 2019 show greeted patrons with an old, familiar classic "That's Entertainment" before featuring the Honeybees in "All The Jazz" from the Broadway hit Chicago. The sounds of the Busy Bee Band was featured in the David Schaffer concert number "Canadian Sketches," which was accompanied by a video visit to our Neighbors to the North.
Following the traditional Follies walk to George Gershwin's "Embraceable You" and Irvin Berlin's "Steppin' Out With My Baby," the band was back out in force for tour of the eclectic music stylings of the 90s, featuring songs such as "Zoot Suit Riot," "My Heart Will Go On," "Theme from Forrest Gump," "Gonna Make You Sweat," "A Whole New World," and many more in an 11-minute tour-de-force of 90s pop classics.
The first half ended with the ever-popular and precise Honeybee kickline to the Andrews Sisters hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."
The Greatest Showman Steals the Stage
The second half of Follies 2019 started with a tribute to the blockbuster movie "The Greatest Showman." Our own Joel Morris took his cure from Mr. Barnum and made his own circus for the East Fairmont crowd while the Busy Bee Band played Paul Murtha's terrific arrangement of "The Greatest Showman."
Follies 2019 continued with a salute to sitcoms of old in a "Symphony of Sitcoms" followed by the percussion feature in "Espirt - Concert March". The group then celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the landing on D-Day, where thousands of Allied troops gave their lives for the advancement of freedom in our time. Follies Robert Sheldon's "Charleston Harbor Celebration" and highlights from the 2018 Field Show, it was time to bring Follies 2019 to a close with a reprise of the classic "That's Entertainment."
