Band Gets Disney World Invitation
Members of the Busy Bee Band and the Honeybees have received an invitation to perform in May at Disney World located at Orlando, Florida.
Selected for a parade down Walt Disney's Main Street, the Busy Bee Band is invited to present a concert at Cinderella's Castle, a favorite landmark for visitors.
Chosen by Dave Oliver, coordinator of bands and festivals for Disney World Entertainment Division, the band had submitted tapes, three year history of performances, and ratings held. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McConnell visited Disney World last fall and discussed an appearance.
Although still under consideration, the trip awaits approval of the administration, board of education, and the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activity Commission.

the state selected to perform for West Virginia Day June 20 at the capitol in Charleston. At the Huntington Tri-State Band Festival, the band received first place honors and the Grand Band trophy. Honeybees received first place majorette award and held the Main of Marion title locally.
Many activities are planned to help raise money for the Disney World trip including the recent candy sale. Members of the Band Boosters are in charge under the direction of president Glen Twyman. The group hopes to hold a special tag day and a garage sale to aid the trip. |
